Nice cozy casual Mexican restaurant. Good service, good prices and excellent menu, we've ordered a few different dishes and always pleased. Fried icecream is amazing!

Warm friendly place. Good Mexican fare with great staff. Really helpful for our impromptu party.

Great food great friendly. Service

The flavour is amazing and the portions are a good size. A favourite is the Rellenos Mexico with Chorizo as the meat choice. The decor is splendid and getting a jar of water on the table is a bonus. Very friendly staff make it a pleasant experience to take loved ones and family.

Food was very authentic and felt like I was in mexico

It's edible, but if you're use to the level of quality provided by mexican restaurants in Toronto, I would advise to go elsewhere.

Nice food and amazing service

No question: *****Enjoyed our visit thoroughly. Atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Meal was fantastic, they made up some Sangria for me. Service was friendly, coffee and dessert were a perfect top off to a great meal. We'll be back! Soon I'm sure.

Great Mexican food.I'm not sure I saw a single bad review for this place, and it's easy to see why. Great service, authentic atmosphere, easy location. The server even let my 4 year old try on a sombrero! She was over the moon excited about it!We'll be back for sure!

The food was good and our server was very nice but I had to change my order twice because they were out of certain ingredients. I didn't see many spicy options on the menu either but all-in-all I enjoyed it there.

I really enjoyed having lunch here the Chile Colorado was so good the beef was nice and tender not dry or hard to chew I enjoyed the sides the rice, beans, pico de gallo & avocado. Could have used more Avocado and the side may have needed a little more seasoning but still all went well together with the sauce from the Chile Colorado. Secondly the Tomatillo Salsa and spiced chips were really nice I really enjoyed the salsa very refreshing. Lastly the lady who served me today was very kind and accommodating I will be coming back for sure!

Food was great, little slow but worth it

Being Hispanic and from Texas, I know real Tex-Mex and Mexican food, I must say the two items I ordered were outstanding! Spicy and delicious! I had the Veracruz jalapenos and the Spicy Shrimp dinner. The food was surprisingly spicy for being this far north. Now I must say the menu was limited but if the other dishes are of this same quality you have to try it.

Awesome quality... Great food at a great price.

First time here and I enjoyed it. The decor definitely takes you back in a Spanish villa. The food was delicious, especially the home made tortilla chips and salsa. I was satisfied dining there!Good ingredients and tortilla quality great. You can book and order ahead if you're on a tight time schedule for lunch. Service was friendly and obliging. We had a fun dash-from-work group lunch here.

Dined in. Food came in about 15 mins, and was very hot (props to Papagayo). For 17$ I got 2 appetizers which included a chicken tamale and nachos. For a main course it would be 18$, and compared to the people I was sitting with (who ordered main courses) I got the better deal because I received more variety and quantity in food. The atmosphere of Papagayo is also something to be noted. They have beautiful molded ceilings, and vibrant colors everywhere. To put the cherry on top, the decorations completed this mexican food dining experience. *Something which would lead me to take a star off my review is the cost, as I'm an incredibly poor student, but compared to other mexican restaurants, I'm sure it's not insanely pricey*. If I were an adult with a job (which I will pretend to be in this review) I give this establishment a 5 star review. Thank you Papagayo.

I really really loved the food here. It was fresh and didn't taste bad at all. The water was super cold and our drinks were cold. The presentation of the food was perfect, Instagram worthy! The decor was really cool, the restaurant appeared to be clean and tidy. I really liked the set up. They were playing music that brought back memories for my husband Who is from Mexico. So. Imo, if you want an amazing Mexican restaurant to go to that is authentic, come here! I definitely want to come back again. Thanks to our very cheerful and kind waitress for making our visit here a great one.

Terrific, understated Mexican restaurant. The food here is delicious and the service friendly. I've tried a few items on the menu and always been satisfied -- both with the taste and with the portion size. Notably, there is music playing but they keep it quiet enough that it doesn't interfere with conversation. This is important to me because I have mild sensory issues, but they don't get triggered here. A+.

This restaurant deserves a visit, especially if you like Mexican food with flavour and aren't fixated on the spicy aspect. I ordered the combination platter, complete with two seperate burritos that are fused together. The chorizo burrito was particularly good, but it really could have done with some spices, or at least with some table options to add a kick to the meal (for me the spicier the better, so I was a bit dissappointed). The service was excellent, very friendly and prompt. Portions were average. Expect to pay about $25-35 per person with drinks. (Free) Parking is scarce so if your driving here keep that in mind.

The food was absolutely amazing, very tasty and solid portion sizes. Server was very attentive and friendly. Atmosphere is incredibly relaxed, love the Mexican/Aztec decorations all around the restaurant.

Great authentic Mexican food great prices great staff

My husband and I have been here probably about eight times, usually on a weekday. I only have good things to say about Papagayo. The food is consistently good and the servers are very friendly, sadly something that can't be said for a lot of restaurants. I'm surprised that the restaurant isn't busier.

Papagayo has what seems to me to be a more authentic Mexican food experience than you'd get at most places in Hamilton and the service here was friendly and all the food we got here was fresh. They have some very tender calamari and a range of interesting Mexican options. However I felt the price was a bit high and it turns out I'm not very into Mexican food. But I think people who are would like it.

I am surprised that Papagayo Restaurant is not busier than it is. The food is prepared fresh and is excellent. It is a small, welcoming environment and the server is friendly. This really is a hidden gem in the downtown and highly recommended.

Papagayo is one of our favourite restaurants in Hamilton. This brightly coloured little spot off of King Street is a Mexican fiesta of flavours. The food is made with fresh ingredients and tastes wonderful. Authentic. Flavourful. Filling. Freshly squeezed lime margaritas and their take on bocadillos are our favourite. The staff is great as well.

This place was amazingly good considering that my brother hadn't been in something like 17 years.The decor was charming. The food and service were good. The margaritas were great!

Perfect. Perfect seasoning, perfect portion size, perfectly handled and plated, perfectly timed service. No gimmicks (like giant portions or ridiculously spicy-hot over spicing) to distract you from what`s really going on. Good value for the money. We visited on a weeknight so we got meter parking on the street right in front of Papagayo.

Good place, good atmo. This used to be Alexander Balinson's house (He's a soldier ). Still the food is pretty good.

First time! Food was well done (slightly underseasoned) with a relaxed atmosphere. Found the prices a little high for what seemed like unpretentious home-cooking (although the daily specials are pretty inviting). Also, at such a price, paying extra for normal meat options, (chicken or beef for the enchilada platter) was disappointing. Service was great and really got a vibe of authenticity. Would go back, if the occasion called for it, but the prices would not allow for a weekly/bi-weekly pop-in.

Our server was great. She was was not rushed and knew her menu and ingredients for each dish. The food was lacking flavor, that you wouldn't expect from a Mexican restaurant. I was expecting richer and spicier flavors. The atmosphere was fun and fitting to the theme. Take a cab as parking is really hard to find.
